About Dr. Marina Zilbergerts
Dr. Marina Zilbergerts is a writer and scholar whose current work focuses on the understanding of consciousness in Jewish thought and theology. Her recently completed book offers a modern analysis of the Book of Genesis as the origin story of human consciousness, and what that means in this age of artificial minds. Her Substack explores consciousness through philosophy, religious thought, and the stories we tell.
Marina teaches in the Department of Classics and Religious Studies at the University of Ottawa, where her research brings together Jewish thought, the philosophy of mind, and analysis of current AI technologies. She is an incoming advisor to AI and Faith. She is the author of the poetry collection You Were Adam, and the book The Yeshiva and the Rise of Modern Hebrew Literature, which is a study of how traditional Talmud learning shaped and transformed Jewish culture in the 19th and 20th centuries.
