Shalzed (the brainchild of Shlomo Levin) is a blue-skinned alien, who is trying to understand earthlings who have inscribed great treatises on human rights and yet don’t abide by them. I love the idea of an outsider, a being from a planet 10 light years from earth, asking individual earthlings about about whatever controversy or argument that’s being addressed. His interactions include (but are not limited to) individuals in power, such as the Spanish ambassador to the UN and an archbishop.
About Shlomo Levin
Shlomo Levin received Rabbinic ordination from the Israeli Chief Rabbinate and Yeshivat Hamivtar, and for many years he served as a rabbi in the United States. More recently, he went back to school and earned an M.A. in International Law and Human Rights from the United Nations University for Peace. In addition to his Stories of Shalzed, Shlomo is also the author of The Human Rights Haggadah, which introduces rabbinic and secular texts and questions for those who would like to use the retelling of the Passover sedar story as an opportunity to discuss human rights.
